National Meteorologist Day is celebrated annually on February 5 in the United States and is dedicated to meteorologists, forecasters, and specialists whose work is related to forecasting and observing the weather. This day is dedicated to the birthday of John Jeffery, one of the first meteorologists in America, who began conducting systematic weather observations in 1774.

How is it celebrated
Recognition of the work of meteorologists. The holiday serves as a reminder of the importance of the work of weather and climate specialists, and expresses gratitude for their dedication to the work that helps save lives by providing the public with up-to-date weather information.

Events and educational campaigns. Educational lectures, seminars, and excursions to meteorological stations are held to popularize the meteorological profession and raise awareness of weather observations and climate change.
